ABOUT

My name is Kayla.  I am prone to wander.  Actually, it's more like I do wander, then I learn my lesson and come back, and then I wander again.  What I am realizing now though is, is that this story isn't just mine alone.  We share in this.

I live in Huntington, WV and I work for a nonprofit.  I also have my own company, Made New Co. We work alongside the nonprofit.  I teach craft classes to women in the community.  What I should mention here is that Huntington has the most drug overdoses per capita in the country.  I work with women who come from this background.  Our community is broken.  I teach craft classes and then help the women sell what they make, this is a time of community, but it also provides income to women who often can't get jobs.  I love it so much and I love spending every day in such a life giving and life altering place.  God used it to save my life, and I in return get to breathe life into my friends.

I am the women's director at the nonprofit, which is called Rebuild Huntington, and I spend almost every day there. Sometimes we have events, like a Thursday Bible study, and sometimes we just hang out.  I work in the studio several times a week and leave the door open for whoever wants to come and work.  We also do community events, like block parties and pizza nights.  We also have church one Sunday night a month, when it isn't a traditional church, it is just a time of worship and sharing with people in the neighborhood. The people there are my best friends.  It is my favorite place in the world.

I also love spending time with my family and my favorite fur person.  I love reading, crafting(obvs), camping, sarcasm, pizza, and puns. Hanging out on the porch at Rebuild with a book will forever be one of my favorite things.

I am so glad that you are here on this journey with me.  I hope that you enjoy your time here and walk away inspired.  I don't plan on this being a perfect place, I am a broken person.  Not every post will be neat and tidy, but it will be real.  It will be messy, but it will be full of grace and hope, and love.  At rebuild, one thing we say all the time is live small love big, and I plan on keeping this space a space with the same goals. I just want to love on people because Jesus loves me, nothing more, nothing less.
